April 13, 2024 - Psalms 10:17-18
“Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them. You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them.” Psalms 10:17-18 NLT
Oh Lord, our Lord, how wonderful are your ways. We praise you for bringing hope to the helpless. You hear their cries and you long to comfort them. You see every person on this earth, and you know what is happening in their lives. You see those who are desperately in need of your help. In one way or another, we are each desperately in need of your help. We know that you long to be our help. We also read that you have told your followers to be your hands and feet here on this earth until you return. You have told us to help those in need. You have called us to care for the orphans and those who can’t care for themselves. We are to represent you and when we don’t it is our fault that they go unhelped. Whoa, Lord, what a challenging thought.
We want to answer your call. We want to be your hands and feet. Not just with those who are easy for us to be around, but Lord, help us be willing to get out of our comfort zones. Help us be willing to get dirty. Help us be willing to give up our comforts so that we can help others who have no comforts. Show us even when we have little to give materialistically or monetarily, how we can still make a difference by offering a smile, a hug, a prayer, a listening ear, etc. Teach us how to make those who feel lost and alone feel seen and loved. Teach us how to stand up for justice and not turn a blind eye to oppression and injustice. Show us how to speak up and stand against it. If the church really had that mindset, the world would truly be a different place. Revival would sweep over the planet like never before. Lord, let that revival start with us, by us loving one person at a time.
In Jesus name, amen.
