The heart behind these daily prayers is to put God’s word into action - to pray out and release the power it contains.

There is so much power in the Bible – the Word of God.

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1 NLT)

The Word is God, and it holds His power.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)

It is the weapon that God has given us to be victorious in all He has called us to accomplish.

“…take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” (Ephesians 6:17b-18 NLT)

I once heard a preacher give the following example when referring to the power of the Bible.

Pastor: Hands a man a witch’s book of spells and asks, “Would you be willing to read some of those spells out loud?”

Man: No.

Pastor: Why not?

Man: I might cast a spell or release a power that I don’t want to release.

Then the preacher went on to talk about how much more powerful the Bible is than any witch’s spell book, yet people rarely handle it with the reverence and fear we would a book of spells. He encouraged us to look at the Bible differently. To look at it as the powerful weapon that it is. We need to not just read it as a book of significant stories and wisdom but read the words expecting them to release power. Read them expecting them to go out and war on our behalf. Read them, apply them, and expect to see change through them.

We see in Matthew 4:1-11 Jesus was in the wilderness, and He faced down Satan. Three different times Satan tried to get Jesus to yield to him. Each time Jesus was tempted He used the Word of God to shut Satan down. The Word of God allowed Jesus to come out of that situation the victor. There wasn’t a struggle. For each of Satan’s tactics, when Jesus quoted scripture, Satan quit and moved on. Satan cannot stand up to the power of the Word of God.

With this principle in mind, I have put together these prayers. Each day I take a verse or verses and pray them into existence in our lives. I encourage you to allow these prayers to change the way you look at the Bible. It isn’t just a book of life-changing stories, it is our weapon, and it will conquer the enemies we face each day. As you spend time reading the Bible, make sure to speak out the Words over your life, the situation around you, and the world. It will go forth with power and fight on your behalf.
